The Lake District is a very busy time in the Lake District. Many people come to the area to enjoy the beautiful colours and magnificent scenery the area has to offer. Event: Sizergh Greenwood Fair at Sizergh Castle & Gardens
The Sizergh Greenwood Fair at Sizergh Castle & Gardens in Sizergh near Kendal is a unique, educational and fun filled festival of woodland crafts and skills. There'll be local craftspeople selling beautiful hand-made products, practical demonstrations and interactive workshops, children’s activities, guided woodland walks, music and displays. Event: Ambleside Marafun
The Ambleside Marafun is an event for teams of 5 runners, and gives people the opportunity to raise money for the British Heart Foundation and the Westmorland General Hospital Cancer Unit Appeal. Event: Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway 'Steam & Romans'
Steam & Romans is a great opportunity to join a day-trip that explores our rich Roman heritage with an expert guide. The event includes a tour of the Bath House at Ravenglass, which has some of the highest standing walls in Roman Britain, before taking a spectacular train journey up to Dalegarth.
After a light lunch, a minibus will take you to Hardknott Fort. The Romans called it Mediobogdum and its dramatic setting overlooks the Eskdale Valley.
The whole day including all transport, guide and light lunch costs £23.50 per adult. The day begins and ends at Ravenglass and approximate timings are 10am – 4.30pm. Event: Kendal Festival of Food 2011
The Kendal Festival of Food is a 7-day food and drink extravaganza that showcases the very best in Lake District produce and exceptional dining experiences that can be found in and around Kendal. From local fish, game, beef and lamb, to sumptuous fruit, vegetables and cheeses, the Kendal Festival of Food offers you the very best. The 2011 programme is still being finalised but previous Festival of Foods have included:

Celebrations start at 10.30am
Windermere & Bowness Winter Lights switch-on Day
The day starts with our Seeking Santa Cruise at 10.30 am where we sail Lake Windermere in search for the Big Man in His Red suit. Then from 4pm onwards up in the village of Windermere we have the Fantastic Parade through the Streets of Windermere switching on the winter lights followed by a fabulous fireworks display at Queens Park.
